Job Description Summary: Our 2023 Integration/ Solutions Engineering internship programme is now open for applications. All submissions received will be assessed on a continuous basis throughout Winter 2022/ Spring 2023. To be considered, applicants must currently be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university. You must reside in the country where the internship is based, for the duration of the internship and you also must hold the required work authorization. Internship location: Ireland Internship duration: 6 months, starting July 2023

Your day to day

  • The successful candidate will gain insights into different roles in our Global Professional Services organization such as Solutions Engineer, Integration Engineer, Engagement Manager and Technical Account Manager
  • Support Solutions and Integration Engineers to prepare and present solution proposals.
  • Validate the feasibility of technical concepts. Introduce and explain new products/features.
  • Provide system integration guidance and ensure PayPal technical guidelines are adhered to.
  • Assess project risks, partnering with stakeholders to proactively and effectively remove obstacles to successful delivery.
  • Champion best in class functionality and buyer experience.
  • Test and certify merchant and partner solutions
  • Leverage customer relationship and time management skills to effectively prioritize work with multiple merchants or partners concurrently.
  • You will also learn about future career opportunities with international exposure via PayPal’s network of global locations.

What do you need to bring?

  • To be successful you will demonstrate; outstanding technical ability, a collaborative and inclusive mindset and a passion to deliver tangible benefits for our customers.
  • Currently studying Computer Science or related degree.
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g. JavaScript).
  • Good team player with collaborative approach and ability to forge constructive relationships quickly.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English language.

Technical requirements

  • Experience, ideally in web development in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, HTML, Front-end (CSS) frameworks or Python. Exposure to JavaScript front-end frameworks (e.g. AngularJS, React, or Ember etc.
  • Experience in creating and troubleshooting web services, such as SOAP and REST
  • Basic understanding of Firewalls, proxy, HTTP, server-side, client-side, TCP/IP
  • Experience with Software Application Debugging and troubleshooting
  • Understand of online payment processing across web, mobile app, and in store.
  • Understanding of RESTful API design and development
  • Familiarity with libraries like jQuery or Backbone.js
